This week the purple irises flanking one the trees in the back garden are finally blooming. I was able to capture this shot yesterday morning. There are several more to bloom.

Ladybirds and bees

The bees have returned to the garden. Big fat bumbly bumblebees. I’ve witnessed Chip jump three feet in the air trying to catch one. Poor boy. He is on lizard patrol again too, now that the weather is turning warmer. I came across these two sugar replicas of some of my favorite garden friends. They … Continue reading

Prayers for Japan

Yesterday I posted how beauty comes out of tragedy and how different the natural order is. It is not my intention to say that I’m callous about what happened. It is like Katrina and Haiti but on a different scale. My heart hurts and mourns for all the souls that lost loved ones and those … Continue reading

Violets

Mammaw used to pick me voilets when I was a girl. I remember trailing behind her as she walked down one of her favorite walking paths. I was reading from a book of inspiration and a poem leapt from the page, Marjorie Holmes’s prayer, “Just for Today”. This may be one of my new favorite prayers. … Continue reading

My new favorite vintage/Retro site

http://www.unique-vintage.com I mentioned previously that I’m a fan of vintage and Retro-inspired stuff. I found this new treasure when Googling for tea length, vintage dresses. Boy did I find the motherload. I now have this on bookmark and there are a few dresses that I’m pining over. If I ever remarry, my dress is coming … Continue reading

Content

As I stare at this word, my mind stops. What is it and how often do I find myself being content? The truth is not very often. I don’t think I am very much content because I am taught to focus ahead. I am thinking of the past or what is not yet happened or … Continue reading
